Frequently Asked Questions:
-
What is a CSA?
-
Good question. We detail more about CSAs above. In short, this is a way for our community of Ladera Heights to get the freshest, most local produce possible. We are partnering with a local farm to bring freshly-picked produce straight into the community. Our hope is if we generate enough interest in our program that we will be able to eventually become a local farmers market with even more items to choose from. For now, we need to make sure this is something our community definitely wants before we invest in the infrastructure of a farmers market.

-
What comes in my box?
-
Each week, the harvest will be different. There may be some similarities week to week, but overall, each week will be different. Our goal is to bring a variety of fresh vegetables to our community. While some items may be different from what you typically buy at Ralph's or TJ's, we'll do our best to ensure they're not too obscure to cook with.
-
-
How many people will my box feed?
-
Depending on your appetite, our small CSA boxes should provide veggie sides for 1 to 3 people for a week. The large CSA box should feed 3 to 5 people for a week.
-
-
When and where can I pick up my box?
-
The farm will be delivering all of our orders to Ladera Heights on Thursdays. We will set up at a central location for 2 hours for you to stop by and pick up your box.
-
-
What precautions are you taking to prevent the transmission of COVID-19?
-
When you arrive to pick up your box, a face covering is required. Additionally, our volunteers will also be wearing latex gloves. Your box will have your name on it and we invite you to only touch that box. If you would like, we can also load the box into your car for you. If you or anyone you've interacted with are exhibiting flu-like symptoms, please contact us to arrange an alternate type of box pick-up.
-
-
Can I substitute items in my box?
-
Unfortunately not. In order for us to launch this program for our community, we don't have the resources to allow substitutions yet. We hope to be able to offer this in the future, but for now, we're hoping you're able to find use for all of the wonderful, fresh produce we're bringing into the community.
-
-
Can I just order one box to try it or get a box every other week?
-
Yes! We offer single boxes for purchase at the Ladera Farmers Market. Click here to order a single box. Keep in mind, you will save $5/week by subscribing to our CSA.
-
-
Where is the farm the produce comes from?
-
We are working with County Line Harvest, a farm in Thermal, CA.
-
-
Is the produce organic?
-
The farm was certified organic for the last 20 years. However, last summer, the farm moved across the street and was required to undergo organic recertification. All of their practices remain totally organic and will be fully recertified by December.

-
When will I be charged?
