THE LADERA HEIGHTS CIVIC ASSOC. CLEAN-UP PROGRAM
The heart of a successful community is committed residents who love and actively work for the betterment of their place of residence. For the past three years an active component of the LHCA has been the monthly Saturday morning clean-up program which works between 8 –10:00 A.M. The size of the volunteer groups ranges between 10 – 30 per event. The project
has been a great way to meet other residents, exercise and assist with helping to keep our roadways clean. Some of our most committed volunteers are longtime senior residents. Two such individuals have been present at almost every clean-up event and have been vital to the success of the project and we would like to take the time to acknowledge them:
Our first Clean-Up Superhero is:
Sandy Goldsmith (pictured 2nd from the left) has lived in Ladera Heights since 1996. She faithfully arrives at the event with broom and pick up pail in hand and frequently has a friend or two in tow. Her primary clean up areas are lower La Cienega, La Tijera and the Pann’s-Mobil triangle. In addition to previously serving on the board of the LHCA and of other organizations, volunteering for other community ventures and doting over her grandchildren she makes time to help keep our community clean. Thank you, Sandy! We Appreciate you!
Another Clean-Up Superhero is:
Nathan Thibodeaux, (not pictured) Nathan and his wife moved here 38 years ago after visiting a Ladera friend. Nathan is a dependable volunteer that rolls up on Saturday mornings and quietly goes into action. His usual work territory is the east side of La Cienega and the median strips. At the end of the clean-up, he loads up the filled trash bags into his truck for disposal and quietly rides off until the following month.
Both Sandy and Nathan provide team leadership for new volunteers and help to keep the two hours efficient and well-paced. We are grateful to them and to several other dedicated beloved Laderian's who assist with this project. We are a better community for their presence and dedication!
