Ladera Day 2017 Brings Community Together

October 2, 2017

Ladera Day 2017 Brings the Community Together

The first Saturday in October marked the fourth time the Ladera Heights Civic Association has gathered our community together on the grounds of our neighborhood school, Frank D. Parent TK-8 for Ladera Day. What made this year’s event particularly special was the incorporation of our community public school as a partner.

Recently, a group of neighborhood realtors formed, known as the Ladera Alliance of Resident Realtors (or LARR.) The group reached out to Frank D. Parent PTA to offer support and donated the cost of bringing the In-N-Out Cookout Trailer to Ladera day, with proceeds benefitting the school. The Frank D. Parent PTA would like to thank the LARR member for their tremendous support: Carla, Ray and Molly Lowe; Elmon Leggett; Janet Singleton; David Oliver; Roland Harris; Donnie Muldrow and Eboni Jackson. The PTA was able to fundraise nearly $2,000 which will go towards their Frank D. Parent STEM Lab Upgrade project.

Residents were treated to music, burgers, cotton candy, popcorn, chalk artists, a 25 foot inflatable slide, a magic show, an obstacle course, choir and cheer performances and a classic car show. The Council of Black Nurses was on site to share the important message of preventative care.  Thank you to the LA County Sheriffs, Fire Station 58, Councilman Mike Bonin, IUSD School Board members Dionne Faulk and Dr. Carliss McGhee and YOU for joining us. We look forward to seeing you next Ladera Day!
