The African American Male Wellness Agency back in Los Angeles!
Los Angeles, CA – The African American Male Wellness Agency (AA Wellness) is excited to
announce it will be bringing its 2nd Annual walk/run to Los Angeles.
This annual event was established in Columbus, OH in 2004 and has taken place in 16 cities
nationwide.
On November 4, 2023, the walk will take place in participating cities thanks
to the efforts of Johnson & Johnson, KJLH, Martin Luther King Jr. Community Healthcare and more.
According to America’s Health Rankings, the city of Los Angeles has a high prevalence of multiple chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, asthma, hypertension, high cholesterol and premature death rate for African American men.
“This is a great opportunity to change the health trajectory of the African American
community,” Jhade Barnes, Walk Coordinator for AA Wellness.
The African American Male Wellness Walk was established to raise awareness and educate
African American men in the areas of physical health, mental health, financial health and
fatherhood.
Focused on community, the walk will take place at Rancho Cienega Recreation Center (The
Michelle & Barak Obama Sports Complex). Health screenings will begin at 8am and the walk will start at approximately 10:00am. There will be free vendors, kids' activities, and live entertainment.
The event is family friendly and free for the entire community. This year’s honorary chair is
Tremayne Anchrum, Los Angeles Rams, Guard & Philanthropist.
We’re looking for local businesses, churches, and organizations to get involved as sponsors &
participants to make this event the biggest event of 2023.
