The Culver City Symphony Orchestra is back – after its Covid break – with 4 free performances! Cliff is now on the Board of Directors (along with fellow Ladera Heights resident Barbara Fasiska). This is our own, home town, professional symphony orchestra – come and check them out, or renew an old friendship.
1st: Friday June 10th 12:00pm: The orchestra’s Brass Quartet is performing at Grace Lutheran Church, 4427 Overland Blvd., Culver City (located a few blocks south of the Culver Blvd. intersection). (Donations are accepted and will benefit the meal program at Grace Lutheran.)
2nd: Saturday June 25th the full orchestra’s first performance in two years honors the 250th birthday of Beethoven with an all-Beethoven program, at Robert Frost Auditorium, 4401 Elenda St., Culver City (at Culver City High School – take Farragut west off of Overland).
The performance will also honor the symphony’s long-time Musical Director-Conductor, Frank Fetta, who recently passed away. Principal Guest Conductor Andrew Shulman is conducting.
The evening includes:
Overture to Fidelio
Piano Concerto No. 5 “Emperor” Rufus Choi, pianist
Symphony No. 5
During the summer the symphony performs in Burton Chase Park as the Marina del Rey Symphony, this coming summer with two performances.
3rd. Thursday July 14th at Burton Chase Park, Marina del Rey. Brian Asher Alhadeff, conductor of the San Luis Obispo Opera, is the guest conductor.
4th. Thursday, August 4th at Burton Chase Park. Clyde Mitchell, conductor of the Lion’s Gate Sindonia, Vancouver, Canada, is the guest conductor.
