Ladera Center Sheriff Substation Vandalized Overnight

Updated: Sep 3, 2020

Some pretty serious damage was done overnight to our Ladera Center Sheriff's station. It appears to be the effects rippling from the recent anti-police brutality protests and riots affecting many cities across our country.

On Monday, August 31st, Dijon Kizzee was shot and killed by police in the Westmont neighborhood in South LA. Following his death, Black Lives Matter called for "All hands on deck" as protestors gathered at the site of the shooting. As the family asked for distance from the protestors in order to mourn, the crowd moved to the nearby Sheriff Station in Westmont.

The messages spraypainted on the Ladera Heights station facade are those of anarchy, ACAB, reparations, and "defund the police".

At the time of publishing, the windows have been secured and graffiti removed.
