Join Knox Presbyterian Church and Ladera Cares as we start a Community Action Dialogue Group. The goal of this group is to start a conversation about racism, injustice, and equality in our local community so that we understand the problem of systemic racism and taking action to eradicate it. The Community Action Dialogue will be held on November 13, 2020, at 6:30 p.m.
Through facilitated community dialogues, we will virtually engage in discussions of difficult topics about racism, privilege, injustice, and equality using the series https://www.puttingracismonthetable.org. We have chosen to begin with the video White Privilege by Dr. Robin DiAngelo and break out into small discussion groups to discuss the material presented, share our own experiences, and speak our own truth.
Who should participate in these dialogues? We enthusiastically welcome both people who believe that systemic racism is a problem and those who do not believe it exists. The only requirement is that participants be willing to critically think about their own racial experiences and respectfully share that experience with others to gain a deeper insight and mutual understanding.
The Community Action Dialogue will be held on November 13, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. Our number of facilitators and the use of technology limits the number of participants in this dialogue to 80 people.
Participants are required to register in advance in order to participate in our breakout discussion groups. Please sign up via Eventbrite here.
